FAFSA is an acronym that stands for "Free Application for Federal Student Aid." It is the basic form that must be filled out for all students who wish to participate in Federal student aid programs such as Stafford and Perkins loans, as well as Pell Grants. Form may now be completed online.

Federal Pell Grant Program
The Federal Pell Grant Program provides need-based grants to low-income undergraduate and certain postbaccalaureate students to promote access to postsecondary education. Students may use their grants at any one of approximately 5,400 participating postsecondary institutions.

Federal Perkins Loan Program
The Federal Perkins Loan Program provides low-interest loans to help needy students finance the costs of postsecondary education. Students can receive Perkins loans at any one of approximately 1,800 participating postsecondary institutions.
